       Inaugurated in April 1999, it´s one of the biggest Cultural Centers of the country. Baptized in memory of the rafter Chico da Matilde, "Dragão do Mar", that by the refuse of transporting slaves from the slavetraders ships, become into symbol of the popular resistance against the slavery.

       Ceará stood out as the first State to abolish officially the slavery in the country, in March the 25Th 1884.

       
Since the inauguration of the complex, the State of Ceará became into one of the most important poles of difusion and cultural production of the country. It´s nearly 30.000 square meters of area at disposal of Brazilian and Ceará´s Art and Culture. The Center shelters museums, planetarium, cine-theater, amphitheater auditorium, restaurants, Convinience Shops and any other attractions.

       The expositions and artistic presentations have been the strong point of the Cultural Center, with seasons of exposition of local, nacional and international artists. We can also see dancing, music, theaters, poetries, pamphlet literature, etc...

       Located at 81 Dragão do Mar Street, Praia de Iracema, Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.
